Local resident launches parent-powered local climate action group
Local resident and mother of two, Jessica has recently launched a Parents for Future UK (PFF) local group for Leeds & West Yorkshire (LWY).
Parents for Future is the UK’s largest parent-led climate action organisation. The community has over 40 local groups across the UK, who share a vision of achieving climate justice and creating a safer, fairer and liveable planet for all children.
Jessica coordinates the group alongside a fellow mum, Megan, who is based in Ilkley. The pair have established the group to connect with other likeminded parents and parent figures in Leeds & West Yorkshire, to navigate the climate crisis together and push for the change needed to protect our children’s future.
The ethos of Parents for Future is an understanding that the climate crisis will impact all children, that leaders aren’t doing enough to protect our kids and that parents have power if we work together. A safe, thriving environment is the best thing we could ever give to our children. And our voices and actions can make a huge difference when we work together.
-
Work and partner with others to bring about changes that will address the climate crisis
-
Create a supportive community where parents and carers can connect, learn about actions and solutions. And grow our impact in solidarity with the families most impacted by the climate crisis across the world
-
Develop local actions and networks so families can make an impact and build resilience within their communities.
