Popular local geocache trail extended
Following the success of a trail we setup in 2021 (with over 1700 finds), we've extended it to include 10 new caches between Boston Spa and Bramham.
Our new series of 10 geocaches, covers a 2 mile stretch you can walk or bike, on a local bridleway. Along the way you'll find out about the locations you visit, how they relate to the environment we live in and hopefully have some fun (& some fresh air too).
Oh! and its supposed to be a secret, so try and find them without letting other passersby know
Want to give this a go? All you need to do is, download the free geocache apps on iOS (Groundspeak) or Android (C:Geo) to your phone. You only need the free versions to do this series and many more worldwide (click here for more app choices). Create a login by signing up on geocaching.com and use that login in your app (Settings/Services in C:Geo).
On your phone, using the app, click ‘live map’ or ‘nearby’, tap a cache on the map, select the ‘spiky’ compass icon and walk in the direction it says, its that easy (beware of road traffic, cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders). When you are close enough to the cache’s hiding place perhaps have a look at the caches description, hint, previous logbook entries, images to help you find the cache. We’ve hidden them sympathetically to fit within the rural look and feel.
We’ve used recycled household packaging to make some of the caches, wrapped in camo tape with a geocache label on. Please look after them!
Some are magnetic, some are camouflaged, some are small pipette tubes (tweezers required), some are small metal BISON tubes! and some you'll have to work out how to get!
Once you’ve found them, we’d love you to sign the paper logbooks in each cache (you’ll need a pen) with your name and date (if you don’t wish to do this, you can do this on the app too).
Don’t forget to leave the cache hidden how you found it.
Along the way, perhaps collect any litter you find just to help keep our countryside tidy. Thank you. From Lucie (aged 10).
PLEASE use common sense. PLEASE keep your children under close supervision. Each geocache is no more than 2m from any obvious path and you don’t need to climb trees, access private land or trample the undergrowth. Be mindful of local households. Participation in this geocache series is entirely at your own risk.
If you have any feedback, suggestions to improve the series or want to have a go at making some geocaches, please drop your contact details below and we’ll get in touch. Happy caching!
