Just Giving Application for Donations

Our very active Trees & Wildlife subgroup plant trees during winter, help maintain parish council green spaces (including new hedging) and consult with new house builders on wildlife corridor developments.  This subgroup is gratefully supported by a small grant from Boston Spa Parish Council, but requires further funding to cover its planned annual expenditure.

Our very successful Big Bike Fix gives a new lease of life to donated bicycles.  It recently completed its 700^th Bike Fix and has a good stock of bicycles awaiting attention from its team of fixers.  This activity costs money and we are looking to employ an administrator to help develop project further.

One of our trustees has successfully lobbied Northern Powergrid to develop a Voltage Optimisation scheme which uses live voltage readings from smart meters to lower voltage to 15,000 customers across the Wetherby and Boston Spa area.  This safely enables all equipment to operate correctly whilst shrinking customer bills and reduces emissions at the power stations.  This project has been delivering benefits since January 2024 and Northern Powergrid intends to extend it across its whole territory to bring benefits to 4 million customers.  There is national interest too.

We also organise events to promote energy efficiency in the home, speak in local schools and at events, work with local organisations to reduce the use of plastic, and promote waste plastic (and other material) recycling.
